Five Teenage Students Lost Their Lives To Military Gunfire.

In Taraba state, five secondary school students of the Holy Ghost Secondary School, Pave Chanchji, in Tukum Local Government Area has lost their lives. The Nigerian Soldiers killed the students who were in the act of a peaceful protest against the illegal arrest of their teacher.

According to an eye witness, the teacher got married to one of his students named Ngufa Kavga without the approval of the father, who then led some police officers with some civil defence officers to arrest Mr Matthew, the teacher. In the process of securing the release of the teacher, students of the school mobilized and protested for the release of the teacher in order for  the issue to be settled by both family members peacefully. At the time, the teacher had already been transferred to the special force station manned by the Nigerian Army. On seeing the students coming, the officers on Ground called for backup and opened fire on the students protesting, killing some. Others who fled the scene unfortunately fell into a nearby river where they drowned. Since the occurrence, five bodies have been recovered from the river.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
