Two Ladies Remanded for Attempted Murder of Osun Governor

Two 20-year-old women were taken to court in Osogbo today, they were charged for attempt to murder the governor of Osun state. The attempt on the Governor Gboyega Oyetola's life took place during an End SARS protest in the state. The ladies were prosecuted in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court today,  Wednesday 11-11-2020.

During the protest which took place in the previous month, there were reports of hoodlums and thugs attacking the state governor and his envoy. This was during his address to the peaceful protesters.

The profile of the accused persons have been released: Suliyat Tajudeen who is 20 years old and Ayomide Abdulazeez who is also 20 years old.  They were allegedly charged on six-count for the attempted murder. John Idoko (the Police prosecutor) stated that  the accused were charged for attempted murder, malicious damage, burglary and stealing.

However, they pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against them. Nurudeen Kareem (their defence counsel) applied for their bail. It was on the most liberal terms. The prosecutor disagreed  stating that the accused will jump bail considering the glaring evidence the police have against them.

Dr Olusegun Ayilara (the Chief Magistrate) remanded the accused at Ilesha Correctional Centre.
