ESTRANGED

Whisked away, deeply into solitude,

Disconnected even more emotionally,

Separated physically from all,

All that ever mattered and ever will,

Their names engraved in gold in my heart,

Their pictures captured in my mind,

Where the men in white can't reach,

Or anomaly touch.

Isolation had freedom escape me,

It introduced physical distancing,

Alienated gatherings,

From an observation to separation was the plot,

All in a bid to gain freedom and wholeness,

Bondage became the key to freedom, and

Isolation became the route to socialisation.

I once had chosen this part,

The loner was the title accorded me,

Finding comfort in the confines of my room,

Soothing relief in my voice,

Solace in my caged heart, secured beyond anyone's reach,

Bolted the doors and annihilated the keys,

I had locked me in, safe in my own trust,

Hiding in my impenetrable shell,

Cut off from the rest of the world, creating mine,

The transition made me long for solace in others,

How I look forward to their warmth and love,

I wish to revel in them,

I have to lose to gain,

Believing the best for the rest of my life.
